The Cabin

Tahoe Pines Pier

Four grandchildren and two grandparents make magic. Things have changed a little. For instance, the grandparents are first to bed, and the kids are making dinner. One of the kids can drive and drink coffee. There are still traditions that we all love, like going to Meek's Bay and getting sandwiches at Tahoma. Booze Car is a little more competitive.

It was funny last night when we went to Sunnyside for dinner. The hostess asked, "How many kids menus?" and Tayler said,  "Four." We got a special visit from the manager to explain the gluten free options on the menu. The first thing he said was mashed potatoes.

Our littlest kid loves sleeping by himself upstairs in the little bedroom. He can open the window all by himself and look out at the night sky at midnight. He likes the cool mountain air to offset the double sweatshirt on his back in his small steamy room.

Tom's plan this morning was to ride to Firesign on bikes, but alas, we don't know about the lock on the garage and no one brought bike helmets. The kids were not bummed out when we drove to breakfast. The food we ordered was inhaled. This mountain air makes those kids mighty hungry. Now we are back at the cabin and everyone is snacking. I thought nonstop eating was the MO for teenage boys, seems same goes for teenage girls and 10 year old boys.

The girls went sunbathing down on the pier yesterday. In the sixties we smothered ourselves with baby oil. Today they lather up with protective lotions. Oh no... I forgot to pack my cord to upload pictures to the computer. So parents please enjoy my Blog without pictures and plan to revisit this Blog later to see accompanying pictures.
